Archbishop Lays The Smackdown On Joe Biden — Says He Should Stop Calling Himself A ‘Devout Catholic’
(Liberty Bell) â Whenever a Christian politician talks about the centrality of their faith in helping to guide them in making ethical decisions in the lawmaking process, progressives immediately begin to cry foul, claiming that such individuals are trying to force the United States to become some sort of theocracy, a nation ruled by the Christian version of Sharia Law.
But it seems the playbook calls for an audible with the anti-Christian rhetoric whenever a Democrat claims to be religious and takes a high position within the government. Weâve witnessed this hypocrisy first hand with President Joe Biden who claims to be a devout Catholic. The leftist media has fawned over his supposed faith as if that were his most endearing trait, something theyâd never do if he were Republican.
However, itâs hard to imagine how Biden, who is very supportive of the right for women to murder their pre-born children, could call himself a âdevout Catholicâ when the vast majority of Catholics who take their religion seriously are very much anti-abortion.
In fact, according to WND, an archbishop who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, a pro-life committee, has come out and stated that he wants Biden to stop calling himself âdevoutâ for this very reason.
Archbishop Joseph Naumann from Kansas City says Biden needs to be honest and âstop defining himself as a devout Catholicâ and come clean about how his support for murdering pre-born children violates the churchâs clear stance on the sanctity of life.
Naumann was recently interviewed for Catholic World Report where he was asked, ââMr. Biden professes to be a devout Catholic, yet is 100% pro-choice on abortion. How do you think Americaâs bishops ought to respond to this situation?â
âI can tell you how this bishop is responding. The president should stop defining himself as a devout Catholic, and acknowledge that his view on abortion is contrary to Catholic moral teaching,â Naumann responded.
Naumann went on to say that it would be âmore honestâ for the president to say âhe disagreed with his church on this important issue and that he was acting contrary to church teaching.â
âWhen he says he is a devout Catholic, we bishops have the responsibility to correct him,â the archbishop said. âAlthough people have given this president power and authority, he cannot define what it is to be a Catholic and what Catholic moral teaching is.â
The archbishop then went on to say Biden is âusurping the role of the bishops and confusing people.â
âHeâs declaring that heâs Catholic, and is going to force people to support abortion through their tax dollars. The bishops need to correct him, as the president is acting contrary to the Catholic faith,â he added.
President Biden has signed a bunch of executive orders during his first three weeks in office that roll back the restrictions placed on abortion that were put in place by former President Donald Trump, including the Mexico City policy which banned funding of foreign groups that perform abortion services.
The president has also pulled America from the pro-life âGeneva Consensus Declaration,â which was signed by the former president last year with dozens of other countries from around the world. The document states there is âno international right to abortion, nor any international obligation on the part of the States to finance or facilitate abortion.â
Clearly, this man is not a devout Catholic. As the archbishop said, itâs time for him to admit that.
