(Liberty Bell) – Members of law enforcement are raising the alarm about a dangerous Democrat gun control proposal which would essentially enable criminals to find where police officers live and how many firearms they personally own.

Welcome to the brave new world.

The idea comes from far-left Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D), who wants a public gun registry with serious anti-Second Amendment implications, as BizPac Review explains.

Kevin Hassett, the president of the Retired Police Association of the State of New York, says the bill poses a “gross intrusion on your rights and your protections,” according to Fox News.

“What good is it for someone who I may have arrested to finally find where I live, see how many guns I have? To what end?” he asked, according to the outlet. “How does that stop illegal firearms? How does that stop shootings?”

T.J. McDermott, also a retired detective, warns the legislation is distinctly anti-police.

“We’ve become a society where it’s easy to vilify [the police],” McDermott stated. “[Now they’re] turning police into victims.”

“How does a national gun registry prevent shootings?” Hassett asked. “Criminals don’t register their guns. … There will always be people who don’t comply with the law.”

This is the perpetual failure of gun control measures—they only apply to those who are already obeying the law and statistically the least likely to commit an act of violence with their firearms.

Criminals would be chillingly empowered by this proposal by making public personal firearm information, including how many guns someone owns and where they store them.

There is also the very concerning point that such an extensive registry would only make gun confiscation all the easier.

“Creating a national gun registry is not the only thing on the Democrats’ gun agenda,” BPR notes.

“One would not be able to buy a gun until you are 21 under the proposed law. You would also have to get a background check, complete a training course, and get a psych evaluation. Family members, ex-spouses, and at least two associates or family members would also have to pass a psych evaluation for you to prove you are stable enough to own a military-style gun. The definition of ‘military-style is fluid evidently.”

This is all absolutely terrifying and exactly what millions of patriot Americans have been fighting against for years.

The Democrats have gotten all the more radical in their anti-gun agenda and President Joe Biden has plainly stated he’s dedicated to restricting Second Amendment rights and said he would follow the lead of Beto “Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15s” O’Rourke to do so.

They’re after our guns—and why wouldn’t they be? They’re totalitarians and just a few weeks in and they’re already ruling accordingly.

They’ve got their dystopia and they’re going to do whatever it takes to retain that grip on power. An armed populace is most certainly standing in their way, so you’d better believe they’re going to work hard to take our guns.

Licenses would not be granted if the applicant had ever been hospitalized with a “mental illness, disturbance, or diagnosis,” including addiction, depression, or suicidal tendencies.

But wait, there’s more… a gun owner would also have to get federal approval before loaning a gun to someone. If the legislation is passed, current gun owners will have three months to supply their gun information to the federal government. You will also have to fork over $800 for firearms insurance from the government.

The legislation also criminalizes the possession of “large-capacity magazines” and “ammunition that is 0.50 caliber or greater.” Possession of a firearm or ammunition without a license or registration would be punishable with a minimum of 15 years behind bars or a fine of $75,000.

President Biden has previously vowed to “implement national gun licensing, background checks on the private transfer of guns, classification of semi-automatic rifles and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds as Class 3 weapons, and the implementation of ‘red-flag’ laws that institute gun confiscation without due process.”
